"A Million Dollar Question"

One day, I was walking in my university fields. It’s a busy ground and one can find hundreds of students at any time.  I saw two girls approaching me, I never saw them; they are young and pleasant. They stopped me and said “Hi, we will ask you a million dollar question, here is the million dollar (they gave me a fake million dollar note) and the question is ‘Do you ever feel guilty in your life.’ That’s an unexpected and uncommon question from an unknown person. I was looking puzzled, and said No, They continued, “did ever speak a lie, did you ever made some one feel bad, did you ever hurt someone…” , I said “yes I told some lies, but those might be the situation that I should tell lies”…they picked up .. and started “Speaking lies is a sin and you have enough reason to feel guilty about yourself…..and there is only ONE way to get cured and there is only ONE way you can still go to heaven (I am like, I am not dying today) … pray to the only GOD the REAL GOD Jesus. Come to the church and speak to him, tell him all your mistakes, he will forgive you and purify you.”……that’s what they told me. Ok. I believe what they say, but that’s not the way you approach some one that you don’t know, and speak something like that, I am shocked. They seems like, they wanted me to take to the Church right away…

I told them, I am a Hindu (Seems like they know nothing about it), and I have different beliefs, they stressed again that the Jesus is the only real GOD and he can only purify me”.  There point is that there god is THE only GOD and all others are not gods but myths.
I went to church with my friends, I prayed to Jesus just like I do it my millions of Gods……. But here they are forcing me, so, I thought I should speak to them. I asked them “How do you know that Jesus is the only God. Do you know of anyone other than Jesus, that different people trust in and follow? There answer is Muslim…..(except that ‘Muslim’ word, I think they don’t know about Prophet Mohammed or Allah, I think, even that word Muslim they would have known after 9/11…), I told them what we all often listen …“there are many beliefs and many gods for many people. People follow different paths to reach the same almighty, I tried if they heard of Allah or Ram, or Krishna or Buddha or about Sikhs and the answer is NO. They have no idea on the world or different people, they never tried to know, they always lived in there well.  I said “I trust that my religion is true and also, just like my religion other religions are true” (I just quoted what Mahatma Gandhi believed in). I am sure they have gone mad, they looking at me like ‘what the hell’.  And I walked away……….
Without knowing what I follow, knowing nothing about it, they want me to change….?
Hinduism always encouraged to think rational and to question. Through centuries, and as a part of culture, India accepted all religions, all people from different parts of the world and never forced the people to follow one religion.

“What little I know I will tell you. So far as I can reason it out I will do so, but as to what I do not know I will simply tell you what the books say. It is wrong to believe blindly. You must exercise your own reason and judgment; you must practice, and see whether these things happen or not. Just as you would take up any other science, exactly in the same manner you should take up this science for study”….Swami Vivekananda

Historical mistakes of India "If India was once rich, Why are we poor now" -2

First, for those who do not agree that India is not poor, Please refer the census.

Every Indian is proud of India's history, culture, historical superiority in science and technology, rational thinking, olden days economy and living standards, vedic knowledge. Look at the India now, poor, irrational, money politics, doomed leaders, hanging behind the world success story. If we are so great in our past, why are we so poor now. With all the great setup in past we should have been the world leaders by now isn't it. There could be several reasons for this question. Reasons like, invasions, foreign ruling, British raj, diversity and can be more. But what is most important of all, what effected us most. Let us say we have no control on what happened before Independence and start looking after Independence. Before the colonial period, India's share of world economy was 17% and by the time we got our Independence its 2%.
We started at 2% in 1947. Nehru and Gandhi always dreamed of modern India, People of the country fought so hard to live in a free and prosperous India. After the Independence, People were overwhelmingly happy and completely trusted Nehru that he can bring back the India's glory.
Gandhi and Nehru have different opinions on the future policies of India or each visualized future India in different prospectives. Gandhi wanted to keep the village atmosphere of the nation and build the economy dependant on agriculture. He wanted the village to be a central peace of economy. he believed and dreamed of building self sufficient villages. Nehru on the other hand believed in industrial and modern India. Nehru was greatly inspired by the success of soviet union. Finally Nehru exercised what he believed in. Nehru came up with a new idea of Mixed Economy. Which comprises the best of capitalistic and socialistic ideas. The idea seems so interesting and feels like it came out only to succeed. But the history proved it wrong. The mixed economy has embraced the negative side of socialistic and capitalistic ideas.
Nehru introduced License Raj to effectively regulated  the Indian industries. The Indian industries and entrepreneurs get terrifies as soon as they hear "License Raj". It had such a devastating effect on India and on the companies. As per license raj, companies operating in India has to take license for each and every move/decision that they take for the company. it can be an expansion plan, it can be taking a new employee, it can be importing an equipment, it can be introducing a new product line....for each and every small thing that you do in your company should be granted license. The  taxation was between 50-70% based on what kind of industry it was. companies wasted year after year to get a single license and most of the application were rejected. No private companies should get into the large scale business like steel, manufacturing, agriculture, mining, aeronautics, defense, etc...TATA, Birla, Amabani were no exception. The giants also struggled to survive. After Nehru, Indira and up to some extent Rajiv continued these policies, even after they know that they are failing. With all these, Nehrus intention was to control the maximum share by the state and limiting private companies. But it turned out that both private and public companies failed to survive in these policies.
By 1990, from 2% of worlds economic share we ended up at 0.4%. Till now congress govt ruled the nation for 50 years. If India is poor I don't see any other party except congress to blame. Taking out the respect that I have on Nehru for his freedom struggle, Gandhis-Nehru family only ruined the nation.

I will write "PV Narasimha Rao - the greatest PM that India had ever seen" which comprises of the economic history of India from 1991.
I acknowledge the book "India Unbound" which helped me in comprehending the history.

Russia & America Then, China & India Now

After 7 decades from the time of World War II to current war of hacking, the world has changed alot. Russia and USA took the early train of 'industrial revolution' towards achieving their economic success, Countries like India, China and Brazil were little late but cached the 'information/manufcaturing revolution' flight. Being the fastest growing economies of the world India and China attracted the world and the countires are constantly obesrving both. Same with the world policy. India and China has beacme the central piece of thought in their policies. By noting all these and observing the recent moves by China and India, It reminds of the time when Russia and USA were in cold war and trying to rise against each other. USA and Russia's competition was neck to neck. In later case, China is an undisputed winner for now, as time goes this can be exactly compared with cold war.
Now, the socio economic gravity has been shifted from USA-Russia to India-China. The leaders of India and China, on top of the pyramid trying hard to counter each other. After the astonishing success of ISRO's moon machine and several other satellite machines, China stepped up and announced several moon programs including man based moon launching by 2025. This shows the increasing competition between India and China and its going to increase further in coming years.
India on other hand also trying to modernize its army and increased the defense budget to counter or match with its neighbors. Both countries changed their foreign policies to engage more with the countries against to their counter parts. India is increasing its ties with Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia..etc and China on other hand increasing its ties with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar etc. The strategy is more similar to the kind of strategy USA and Russia followed over the years.
Competition in all sense is good for improvement, but I am afraid that, China with its strong bureaucracy and funds may win this battle. I wish and hope India directs all its strengths for the purpose of improving the nation there by keeping its morale high.

Historical mistakes of India -1

Every body does mistakes. If you are an individual, no body cares what you do, and it doesn't effect anybody except you or some. What if the same person sitting in the PM chair or CM chair and does the mistakes, it will effect the entire nation. I am thinking of the mistakes that we(India) regret for, The mistakes that affected the nation, the mistakes that, if were not happened, we would have been in a better shape......

Since we are all in the moods of Kashmir, Lets see what single mistake by which single person led to the situation that we are seeing today....
Do you all remember the map of Kashmir , printed by Indian printing companies, its looks like this isn't it.
The Jammu& Kashmir that you are looking is not all controlled by India. 30% of it occupied by Pakistan and 10% by China and 5% given by Pakistan to China as a gift (Yes, Our land, given by Pak to China as a gift...). I was depressed a lot the first time I came to know about this. Now I know its a fact and need to live with it.  The present Kashmir is like this

You see now, what India can print, If it needs to print it for real. Its been the problem for 60 years and we couldn't solve the problem. Now we are threatened to lose the remaining part of Kashmir. If I go back to the story of Kashmir..
Its in 1947, India got its independence, Kashmir was a princely state.  The king of Kashmir hasn't not decided whether to join with Pakistan or India. During this period Pakistan encouraged and helped the tribes of Kashmir to go for a war against the raja of Kashmir, Maharaja, Singh. He sought India's help to fight back and agreed to the condition to keep Kashmir as an integral part of India. With this agreement, The Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Ordered the Indian army to recapture the Kashmir occupied by tribes and Pakistan. Indian army performed extremely superb and captured most of the PAK occupied Kashmir and progressing. In these circumstances, UN ordered both countries to siege fire and withdraw forces from the disputed land. As per UN's request, India (or)Nehru decided to not move any further, but PAK rejected to withdraw.
If we would have let the army free, we would have captured remaining Kashmir and parts of Pakistan if needed. Here my intention is not to capture Pakistan, but you know how deep we can get into the land.
From then, till now, we are not the real controllers of our whole Kashmir (though we show it in our maps). China on other hand was even more dangerous. In 1950s It captured Aksai chin from east, and it took almost 10 years for the Govt of India to know that its not in our control anymore. Jawaharlal Nehru was the PM for this period as well.

I cannot really understand, being in the most responsible position, how could he order the army to not move any further. we are not war-wishers, but we lost our pride along with Kashmir. And China, by that time, captured Tibet and claimed Taiwan, how could Nehru over trust China. With his wrong decision we lost Aksai Chin as well.
The consequences that we are facing
1)We lost control on the second largest peak on earth K2.
2) We are now more prone to China and Pakistan.
3)We lost control on some of the rivers originating from Kashmir.
4)Pakistan gained direct access to china and China got direct access to Pakistan and Hindu ocean through Pakistan. You understand how serious is this for the security of India5) We lost direct(through land, and No access via water bcaz they are landlocked) access to Afghanistan and Tajakisthan. This is preventing us to access plentyfull natural resouces in those countrys
6)Above all we lost the Jewel of bhartah matha...

Kashmiris are Indians

Day after day Kashmir is becoming increasingly complex. From past 3 months, we are listening about the riots of varying intensities. According to media reports, till now 72 people died and several hundred injured.
I see the reasons for the problem have multidimensional edges and the solutions should be multidimensional as well. There are separatist groups backed by Pakistan and deriving motivation from the greed of power and popularity. These groups are driving the people to fight hard against the government. For security reasons, The Government of India till now looked at the Kashmir just an important part of India but never thought enough to do best for the people of Kashmir. The government also failed to control mass killing of kashmiri pandits in 90’s , which resulted in losing faith among pandits and gave enough boost for separatists.
In Kashmir the situation is extremely volatile and no body knows when violence erupts. We are seeing all kinds of activities like stone pelting, breaking glasses, breaking vehicles, putting up fire, attacking govt officials and office buildings and shouting slogans like “go back India” and “azadi Kashmir”. With all this are they (separatists) expecting that they what they wanted (Azadi Kashmir). It’s not just a land to give up by the govt of India or by the people of India.
By considering the violence that is and was happening over the years, the suppression, human right violations, super powers of armed forces, etc.. I can understand the agitation of Kashmiris. In a democracy and in a multiparty system we cannot stop people from expressing their feelings.
I am disappointed by the response that India and Indian people gave to the Kashmir riots. Indian politicians are observing things silently from the back bench. Don’t we need to tell the people of Kashmir, who are a part of India and are Indians, that we care for them and we listen to them. Arundhati Roy speaks for ruthless Naxals, Communists speaks for pointless ideologies and for labor, BJP speaks for Hindutva and congress speaks for “gareeb”, who are speaking for the development of Kashmir and for the Kashmiri people. By the way, I am not proposing that we should support for Azaadi.
Right now the people of Kashmir are driven by extreme emotions. They are not sure what after Azadi what they achieve with azadi and how that is going to effect the valley. In this situation merely announcing an economic package by Govt will not yield any result.
1) I think, all the political parties of India should join to organize a peace rally to Kashmir to support them and to spread word that we care them and listens to them. This will help in building trust on India, and also helps to calm down the situation little bit.
2) The young are the most affected of Kashmir. All the schools were closed. Children were restricted by fears. Parents are worried about their future. Indian govt should facilitate and fund the children to join any of the schools in any part of India that they wish. This is in fact an opportunity for the government of India to dislocate the kashmiris to different parts of India and in keeping away the young from violence.
3) The youth of the state are suffering from serious scarcity of jobs. Doesn’t they need reservations to get jobs in the state owned companies. Though I am against to reservations, by considering the fact that we provide reservations on the basis of caste by taking no consideration of their wealth, and on the basis of gender, on the basis of religion etc., I am convinced that kashmiris needs reservation.
4) Huge developmental funding is needed in the border villages to ensure India’s power, sovereignty and administration in the valley. This is the same strategy used successfully by China in Tibet and LAC, Pakistan in POK. India should consider this with more vigor.
Spreading the Kashmir population across the country, efforts to increase hindu and budhist population in the valley, and importantly linking the areas with development, problems can be smoothed in the future. Its very important for the nation to act quickly on Kashmir to keep India as one nation.
